WHEATON–Pumpkins are everywhere in October and Cosley Zoo is no exception.
In fact, the zoo will be the ideal place to discover and select just the right gourd for carving, decorating, pie-making or mood setting.
The 39th Annual Pumpkin Fest begins October 1, continues through October 31 and features a plentiful supply of the bright orange squash, a chance to celebrate autumn with the animals, and an opportunity to relish the picturesque surroundings as nature segues into a new season. Zoo hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
A wide variety of pumpkins, from tiny tabletop minis to jumbo giants, will be available to choose from in the pumpkin patch. Visitors may also purchase apples, decorative corn stalks and hay bales. Proceeds will benefit Cosley Zoo.
Seasonal refreshments available for purchase will include caramel apples, doughnuts, and apple cider, all fall favorites that can take the chill out of the nip in the October air.
Adding to the festive atmosphere will be carnival rides suitable for small children. Rides will be available weather permitting. Each ride requires three tickets. Tickets are priced at 20 tickets for $18 or $1 per ticket.
