Photos must be submitted by 5P (CST) on April 30, 2018.
Rules for Entry:
The contest is open to all legal residents of the 50 U.S. states who are 13 years of age or older as of April 1, 2018. All photos must be submitted no later than 5P (CST) on April 30, 2018. You must own all legal rights to submitted photos.
Image Format and Size:
Photographs must be in digital format. Any hard copy print, slide or negative submissions will be not accepted and will not be returned.
All digital files must be 5 megabytes or greater, in JPG or PNG format, and 300 dpi or higher.
Photographer retains ownership and all rights to photograph; however, by entering the contest, entrants grant the Wheaton Park District and Cosley Zoo permission, royalty-free, to publish submitted photos and to reproduce images for outreach and promotional purposes. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. The Wheaton Park District and Cosley Zoo will not be required to pay any consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.
- Photographs must be horizontal; vertical pictures will be disqualified.
- All photos must be taken at Cosley Zoo.
- Animals at Cosley Zoo must be the featured/primary subject matter.
- Photos may not include people.
Can photographs be manipulated or enhanced?
No, we do not accept digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered photos.
Cropped photos are eligible. Minor adjustments, including spotting, dodging and burning, sharpening, contrast, slight lighting and color adjustments or the digital equivalents, are acceptable.
If the judges determine that a photographer has altered his or her photo, we reserve the right to disqualify it.
How are photos judged?
After the deadline for entry has passed (April 30, 2018, 5P CST), Cosley Zoo and Wheaton Park District staff and/or volunteers will convene to judge submissions based on originality, creativity and composition. The winning submission(s) will be selected based on the judges’ scores. All decisions are final. Winners will be announced on or around June 1, 2018.
