Christmas Tree Lane

Sunday, November 28 – Saturday, December 4, 2021

Be part of the holiday tradition at Cosley Zoo by decorating a tree as part of our Christmas Tree Lane!

The zoo will provide a lit five-foot tree, a sign with your group or organization name to be displayed on the tree, and a cup of hot chocolate for participants on the day of decorating; your group provides wildlife friendly ornaments and imagination. Trees are on display through the month of December.

Tree decorating must take place Sunday, November 28-Saturday, December 4, 2021. The zoo is open 9A-9P, however please note some areas are lit with only the light strings on the trees so decorating is recommended to take place before dark.

Reserving a Tree

Trees will be pre-assigned based on date/time of decorating and group size. Changes to tree assignments cannot be made. Groups will be contacted by email in early November to schedule a decorating date and time.

The cost to participate is $65.00 per tree. Payment is due at the time of reservation. To reserve a spot in Christmas Tree Lane, please contact the zoo at 630-665-5534 between 9A-5P daily. The Guest Services staff answering the phone can assist you. Cosley Zoo accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover.

Thank you for helping make Cosley Zoo a magical place to visit this Christmas!

When creating ornaments for your tree please use the following guidelines to ensure they are durable and wildlife-friendly:

Materials Recommended for Ornaments:

  • Wooden items, such as popsicle sticks and clothespins
  • Strung beads
  • Laminated paper
  • Fabric, ribbon, yarn
  • Natural items, such as sticks, shells, and pinecones
  • Recyclable items such as soda cans, plastic bottles and containers

Materials NOT Allowed for Ornaments:

  • Fishing line
  • Wire
  • Metal hooks
  • Unlaminated paper (not weather resistant)
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Glass
  • Tinsel
  • Due to limited electrical access, please do not bring additional lights

  • The ornaments need to withstand the elements of winter. Ornaments can be painted, varnished, shellacked, or laminated (this does not include food items). Water-soluble glue (Elmer’s) is NOT recommended.
  • Please do not hang any ornaments that are valuable or hold special meaning. The trees will be up in the zoo the entire month and there is no guarantee the ornaments will remain on the trees. Cosley Zoo is not responsible for ornaments that are missing or stolen.
  • Your groups should make enough ornaments to sufficiently decorate a 5’ tree – at least 100 ornaments are recommended.

Trees will be displayed through the month of December.
